Microsoft Teams users will now be able to make free video calls for 24 hours. The company will soon initiate 24-hour video calls for all users at no additional cost. It will also allow users to add personal accounts on Teams desktop or web app. The new feature supports up to 300 attendees and is available in preview mode on the Teams mobile app and will be available to all users in the coming weeks.
“To help you stay in touch in the coming months, you will have 24-hour meetings with up to 300 participants,” the company said in a blog post.
Microsoft Teams allows customers to add their accounts to Teams desktop or web app to sync all of their chat with their computers. Users who do not install the application on their device can also access the company’s platform. The connection between existing Teams users and people who do not have the application installed on their devices will be established using a connection accessible from any internet browser.
However, the host will need a Microsoft account to initiate a video call with Microsoft Teams. After signing in, the host can share the meeting link with friends and family, and then join the meeting for free over the Web, without the need for a Microsoft account.
Microsoft recently allowed Team users to integrate other applications while using the video conferencing application to make their experience more efficient.
Over the past few months, Microsoft Teams has announced features that will make the video calling experience more interesting and work from home more efficient. It also has pipeline features like virtual commuting. Microsoft noted that commuting time helps productivity as employees get time to think. The virtual commute feature will be implemented in 2021. This feature allows users to schedule a virtual commute at the beginning and end of their day.
“What we found is good that the commute experience isn’t too long, but it plays a role in helping us gather our heads. Microsoft has also partnered with Headspace to allow employees to plan conscious meditation sessions. You can plan a meditation as part of your commute or as part of a mindfulness break throughout the day, ”said Spataro. Microsoft found that starting with meditation before a long work day reduces stress and burnout.
Last month, Google extended Google Meet’s 24-hour video calling policy in its free version until March 31, 2021. Zoom has a 40-minute call limit for video meetings where he occasionally waves, like he did for Thanksgiving recently. Microsoft did not specify when to make free calls to users.
