How can I fix the VALORANT error code VAN6?

Modifying Vanguard properties using Msconfig

VALORANT’s anti-cheat system was a great attempt to solve the hacking problem, but it also involved a significant portion of the problem. Vanguard seems to start automatically as soon as I start my PC. This may be one of the reasons why error code VAN6 asks you to do so.

This is a way to prevent Vanguard (VGC) from starting.

  • Open the Windows Start menu and type “msconfig”.
  • When the system configuration is displayed, you need to click on it.
  • A new window will appear. At the top[サービス]Click the tab.
  • You have to find a VGC service in the crowd. You can easily do this by sorting the list by manufacturer and looking for services related to Riot Games.

This is just the first half of VGC autorun. Also, the first time you start VALORANT, you need to follow these steps to make sure Vanguard is running.

  • Reopen the start window and look for “Run”.
  • Type “services.msc”[OK]Press.
  • [サービス]In the tab, find the VGC you want to open.
  • Right click on it[プロパティ]Open.
  • The type of startup[自動]Change to[適用],[OK]Click in the order of.
  • Please close the service interface and restart your PC before logging in to VALORANT.

Exclude VALORANT from Windows Firewall configuration

The second reason you may see the error code VAN6 is that Windows Firewall is trying to retrieve important in-game files when you are trying to start it. Firewalls and antivirus software can make the mistake of identifying in-game files as false positives. You can easily fix this by setting these as exclusions.

Alternatively, you can disable your firewall or antivirus software, but excluding VALORANT files in-game is just as effective.

  • Open a start window and search for VALORANT.
  • Right-click on it and click Open File Location to navigate to the VALORANT installation folder.
  • Copy the location of the Valorant installation folder and[スタート]Search for Windows Defender Firewall from the menu.
  • After setting up the firewall,[WindowsDefenderファイアウォールを介してアプリまたは機能を許可する]You need to click. This is in the upper right area.
  • There is a small shield icon next to it[設定の変更]Click the button.
  • This is at the bottom of the control panel[別のアプリを許可する]The button will be unlocked. Click on it and then[参照]Click.
  • A file browser opens[開く]Before clicking, you need to paste the location of the VALORANT file and select RiotClientServices.exe.
  • You must follow the same steps to add VALORANT.exe to the list. The File Browser should resume where it left off.
  • To add VALORANT.exe, go to the Riot Games folder in your file browser. When you get there, go into the VALORANT folder and open “live”.
  • VALORANT.exe is in the live folder you just typed and, like RiotGamesServices, should be added as an exception.
  • You must use the same process for VALORANT-Win64-Shipping.exe under live / ShooterGame / Binaries / Win64 in the VALORANT folder.

After adding all three executables to the list,[OK]Select the two check boxes in the list before clicking. Please restart your PC before launching VALORANT for the changes to take effect.

If you are running a secondary antivirus, you need to add all the above executables to the exception list. This process is different for each antivirus program. So if you haven’t done so already, you should do an easy search on Google.

Try changing the DNS

It may sound ridiculous, but some users report that changing DNS may solve the problem, even for a temporary period of time. It’s hard to believe that this issue has anything to do with your connection. However, if the server malfunctions, the Vanguard service can become active.

If you’re already using DNS, it’s a good idea to go back to standard and try this method. One of the reputable DNS service providers must do this.

  • Go to Control Panel.
  • [ネットワークとインターネット]>[ネットワークと共有センター]>[アダプター設定の変更]Click.
  • Select the connection for which you want to configure the DNS value.
  • To change the Ethernet connection settings, right-click on the Ethernet interface and click[プロパティ]Choose.
  • To change the wireless connection settings, right-click on the Wi-Fi interface and[プロパティ]Choose.
  • If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, enter the password or provide confirmation.
  • [ネットワーク]Select a tab. For this connection, select Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP / IPv4) or Internet Protocol version 6 (TCP / IPv6) using the following items:[プロパティ]Click.
  • [詳細設定]Click[DNS]Select a tab. If the DNS server IP addresses are listed here, write them for later reference and remove them from this window.
  • [OK]Click.
  • [次のDNSサーバーアドレスを使用する]Choose. If the preferred or alternate DNS server lists IP addresses, make a note of them for later reference.
  • After clearing the fields, you are ready to enter the DNS value that you think is correct.
  • After entering the DNS value, it is recommended that you also reboot the router to reconnect from the beginning with the new configuration.

Try uninstalling and installing Vanguard

One corrupted file in Vanguard may be more than enough to trigger VAN6 error code. Vanguard’s anti-cheat software is automatically installed on your computer, but it’s listed individually as an app so it’s easy to uninstall.

  • Windows[スタート]Go to the menu and click on the gear icon[設定]Open.
  • [設定]of[アプリ]Go to the section and look for Riot Vanguard.
  • Left click on Vanguard[アンインストール]Use the button to remove it from the system.

Vanguard does not have a separate installer to download. Therefore, you need to start VALORANT so that you can start the download process. VALORANT will display a message warning that your PC does not have Vanguard and will do the rest.

Try reinstalling VALORANT

If the issue persists, reinstalling VALORANT is the last resort to resolve this issue yourself. A new installation will ensure that corrupted game files do not conflict with your system.

It also means that you will need the help of Riot experts to determine the cause of the error in the case. If the new installation still does not fix the error, we recommend contacting the VALORANT support team.

Please inform us of all the troubleshooting steps you have tried and provide as much information as possible to reach the root of this issue.
